In 2007 at the grand age of 60 I decided, after the sudden and unexpected death of my great friend Barry Callaghan, to retire and set off to see those countries that had played such an important part in my education and early life. I desperately wanted to see Australia, New Zealand and India and because of my fear of flying I needed an alternative mode of transport. Luckily we heard of a new company providing overland travel between London and Sydney for the bargain price of £3,7500 a piece.  Setting out on the 23rd of September we travelled across Europe, into Asia Minor (Turkey), Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia before flying from Bali to Darwin in the Northern Territory. The bus then took the route down the Stuart Highway callling in at Kakadu National Park, Catherine, Daly Waters, Alice Springs, Uluru, Coober Pedi, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra and finely arriving in Sydney on December 16th a very wet and un Australian summer's day.  If you interested in hearing more follow the link below.
